The Peak Performance Backcountry Tour for the Cure
Get ready to tour the Utah backcountry for something more than the rush of awesome terrain and the exhilaration of breaking a sweat. This April 26th and 27th a group of girls and myself, in conjunction with www.shejumps.com, will tour for the cure. In the hopes of raising money for breast cancer research and support we will throw on our skins and power our way to a long, steep, and narrow chute in Little Cottonwood Canyon–the Hypodermic Needle. It’s a full-day tour of up, up, and more up. In recognition of all those who have battled, survived, or succumbed to the pains and torments of breast cancer we will take on the Wasatch. We will rendezvous for a night of spring-camping funand celebration at the base of the Needle in Hogum Fork. The next morning will be an early start as we make our way–clad in pink–to the top of the needle for a mid-morning descent of one of the Wasatch’s most notorious chutes. It’s 50 degrees of sheer chute at its entrance and 2300 vertical feet of Utah skiing. Backup dates are set for the following weekend, May 3rd and 4th, in the case of bad weather. In the days leading up to the tour, I will be collecting pledges that will go toward breast cancer research and support. All pledges and donations will go directly to the Salt Lake City affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. www.komenslc.org

Mount Kilimanjaro
The expedition has been pushed back! The expedition to Mount Kilimanjaro with One Revolution, led by paraolympian Chris Waddell, will be postponed until June 2009. Chris is on a mission to shower some well deserved light on the abilities, determination, and spirit of those with disabilities. I’m fortunate to join his mission and adventure to Africa’s highest mountain, and look forward to this incredible opportunity. The postponement will allow for extra prep time, logistical ironing, sponsorship support, and more well needed time for me to build up my climbing legs. For more info., including sponsorship and media inquiries, contact Panic Button Media at 435- 649-0529 or media@panicbuttonmedia.com. And check out Chris’s website at www.one-revolution.com
